The Comfort in Taking My 6-Year-Old to Vegas (Yes, You Read That Right)

Yesterday, I went to Vegas for a day trip. Not 24 hours literally just the day. 8AM to 6PM.
And the kicker? I took my 6-year-old with me.

Now, I already know what you’re thinking. “You took a kid to Vegas?”
And honestly, I get it. Growing up, Vegas felt like a secret society for adults only. It was always giving what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas energy not mommy-and-me day trip vibes. 😂

But times have changed, and honestly, so have I.
I go to Vegas often, and every time my daughter hears me mention it, she’s like, “Mommy, have I been to Vegas yet?”
So, with November being her birthday month, I figured… why not?

Now here’s where comfort came into play.
I knew I couldn’t do my usual “Vegas style” walking the Strip, Ubering everywhere, and running on caffeine. Nope. This time I had to plan ahead.

I decided to get a rental car (which I never do in Vegas) because who drives there? Usually we’re on the Strip all day. But with a 6-year-old, I wanted a slower, kid-friendly experience nowhere near the chaos.

I booked with National Car Rental, and listen, if you’re an Executive member, you don’t have to deal with the counter or the lines. You just walk up, grab your car, and go. Convenience = comfort.

We grabbed breakfast at Primrose inside Park MGM (because pancakes are non-negotiable), and then we spent the day off the Strip and it was honestly perfect.

We went to Area15, which is full of immersive, illusion-style attractions that are great for kids and adults. You can buy passes for individual attractions or get a package for the day.
After that, we headed to Oozapalooza, where you make your own slime and my daughter was in heaven. Then we wrapped up with sushi before heading out for a little shopping.

She picked out some clothes and, of course, a new stuffy (because what’s a trip without a new stuffy?). It was such a simple, sweet way to end the day fun, relaxing, and just right for a 6-year-old.

By 5:45PM, we were back on our flight home, and within thirty minutes, she was completely knocked out. That’s when it hit me this is comfort.
Not just the planning, not just the ease but the peace of seeing my child happy, tired, and safe after a full day of new memories.

So yeah, maybe taking your 6-year-old to Vegas sounds wild but with a little planning, it was actually one of the most comfortable, fun days we’ve had.

No more “I can’t, I don’t have a babysitter” excuses.
Sometimes, you just have to take the trip and take the kids too. 😂

Would you ever take your kids somewhere unexpected? Or do you believe in keeping adult trips strictly for adults?
