Choosing Comfort in Chaos (Even When Life Gets Ghetto)
Today I want to talk about not stressing over a single thing that’s uncontrollable because let me tell you, I could’ve been stressed today.
I had to go into work at my 9–5 (yes, the federal government job), and with this whole government shutdown situation going on, things are feeling real uncomfortable right now. But what I refuse to be is both stressed and uncomfortable mentally.
Bills are due, payments are piling, and as a Virgo (aka the planner, the organized one), that kind of uncertainty can make me feel all types of mentally out of place. But here’s the thing I’m not above picking up the phone.
When things get tight, I’m calling the banks, the credit card companies, the 4-pay services and if I have to, even my rental office. Because letting them know what’s going on doesn’t make me irresponsible, it makes me realistic. And honestly, it takes a little bit of pressure off.
Now, one thing I won’t do? Take out an unnecessary loan.
Thankfully, I do have a rainy day fund and that right there is past-me planning comfort for future-me. But if you don’t have one yet, don’t beat yourself up. It’s hard out here, and anyone saying otherwise is lying. I’m sure even billionaires have their “uh oh” moments.
Here’s the part I really want you to hear though:
If life ever life’s a little too hard call your people. The banks, the credit card companies, your car note, your landlord, whoever. Most places have hardship programs for moments like this, but they won’t tell you unless you ask.
Don’t let pride keep you in panic.
I always say comfort isn’t just about what you wear it’s how you handle life when things get real.
And today? Comfort looked like giving myself grace, making a few honest phone calls, and trusting that everything will be okay.
Now don’t say I ain’t never helped you. 😉
